Deadlifts

DEADLIFTS ARE NOT BAD FOR YOUR BACK!

They are very good for your back because they teach you how to protect your back while lifting things off the floor.
They develop leg strength, core strength and spinal stability.
They are non negotiable!
Deadlifts will only hurt you if you do them with bad form.

What is proper form?

Feet are hip distance apart and grabbing the ground.
The bodyweight is shifted toward the heels and the lats are engaged to keep the weight in contact with the legs the entire time.
For a barbell deadlift, take the “slack” out of the bar by pulling the bar up and back into the weight plates.
Take a deep breath and press outward into your abdominal muscles creating a solid pressure tank in your core.

✨All this before you even move the weight✨

Then, press evenly into both legs to send the hips forward, moving ONLY about the hips.
*Think forward and back rather than up and down.

If you need more help, I’m here for you!
